The antistatic mat is made with a conductive material, which is grounded to remove static electricity from an electronic environment by providing a safe path to ground. The antistatic mat usually comes with a plug that is required to be connected to a grounded line. Also some mats come with connection points for antistatic wristbands. The antistatic mat is sometimes referred to as a ground mat.
