Durapipe SuperFLO Cools Its Way To Success

DurapipeDurapipe SuperFLO pipework has been specified within a new manufacturing facility at the head quarters of a world-leading printing company in Cambridge.

Printing solutions company Xaar, briefed leading environmental control specialists Comec, to construct a temperature controlled ‘clean room’ environment within the new inkjet manufacturing facility. The room needs to be dust free and at a consistent temperature in order for the spray on printing process to work most effectively.

In order to meet the temperature control requirements of the project, a high quality air conditioning system was needed to keep the clean room at a consistent temperature. Comec has been extremely impressed with the performance and quality of SuperFLO pipework on similar applications in the past and therefore decided it was the ideal pipework system to transport chilled water for the air conditioning system at the new Xaar facility.

Durapipe SuperFLO pipework has been specified in sizes 50mm – 125mm to carry chilled water from an external chiller system 90 metres away from the building. The water is then transported into the pumping room and then onto the air conditioning system in the clean room to cool the room.

Project manager at Comec, Simon Martin, comments: “We have used SuperFLO pipework in the past and have always been extremely pleased with the quality of the system and how lightweight and easy to install it is on site. This project was an important and high profile job for us and we were keen to work with products that we had used before and knew would deliver the quality and performance they promised”.

Durapipe SuperFLO is specially designed to cater for chilled or boosted cold water applications within the building services sector and offers many added benefits; the system is completely limescale and corrosion resistant due its smooth inner-bore and offers a 50-year design life.
