Director General Daniel Liao visits Taiwanese investors in Southern Washington State (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle)

Director General Daniel Liao of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Seattle, accompanied by Division Director Jason Huang, visited two Taiwanese investors in Southern Washington State on January 13 en route to Portland, Oregon.
Liao first met with Jason Hung, President of Oregon Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, and stopped over at the shopping mall Hung developed in Vancouver, WA. Two-thirds of the 3.54-acre area has been developed, rendering a floor area of 23,000 square feet and divided into 16 retail units.
Liao and Huang then paid a visit to Wafertech L.L.C. in Camas, Washington, which is Taiwan’s largest investment in the northwest of U.S.A. President K.C. Hsu of Wafertech greeted Liao and Huang in person and briefed them. Liao and Huang were then invited to put on the dust-free outfits and have an on-site experience into the factory’s “Clean Room.” Wafertech is an cooperation set up by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in late 1990s with a total investment of US$1.5 billon. It currently employs 1,000 people, which makes it the sixth largest employer and the largest manufacturing facility in Clark County, Washington.
