Location: Lausanne
Type: PhD Studentship
Expires: September 13, 2010
Several postdocs/PhD students with a background in bio-physics, molecular biology, physics or related disciplines are needed to join a Laboratory of Nanoscale Biology (LBEN) at the EPFL.
Highly motivated students and post-doctorands will have an opportunity to elucidate complex motions, multiple interactions and generally, structural dynamics of complex molecular machines in vivo and in vitro.
The group will employ optical and magnetic tweezers, AFM, single-molecule fluorescence and nanopores to study biological systems.
Exceptional candidates are expected to show a strong interest in biology, biophysics, single molecule techniques, systems biology. Skills in single molecule techniques, nanopore fabrication, optical trapping, anti-Brownian electrokinetic trap (ABEL trap), training in molecular biology or cell biology are especially desirable. Additional experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage: optical microscopy, protein expres-sion/purification, cell culture, cleanroom processing.
Proficiency in spoken and written English together with proficiency in programming Matlab and Labview is required.
Interested applicants should email curriculum vitae, state-ment of research interests and names of three references to Prof. Aleksandra Radenovic (job.lben@epfl.ch).
