Dow Electronic Materials Strengthens Presence in Korea
Dow Electronic Materials, a business unit of Dow Advanced Materials, is strengthening its presence in Korea with the addition of a new research and development center in Seoul, Korea.
The new Dow Seoul Technology Center will serve customers in the electronics industry with a focus on bringing technological advancements in flat panel display technologies, semiconductor devices and related applications.

During the last 10 years, Dow has invested more than $300 million in the Korean electronic materials market to support new business development, manufacturing, and research and development.
“This represents another step in our plan to expand our presence in Korea and to capitalize on the continued growth of the electronics industry,” says Dr. Yi Hyon Paik, Group Vice President, Dow Electronic Materials. “The capabilities and location of this new Technology Center are ideal for enabling ongoing collaboration and interaction between our experts, customers and other development partners,” says Paik.
The new facility located near Hwaseong, approximately 20 kilometers from Seoul, will ultimately employ more than 200 scientists and engineers. The multi-story complex will feature clean room capability, chemistry and application laboratories and office space.
Cathie Markham, Director R&D, Dow Electronic Materials, says the first tenants at the Dow Seoul Technology Center will be the scientists who will move from the business’s existing research laboratories in Korea. “We are looking forward to expanding our global scientific reach by consolidating current Dow Korean scientific talent at one site near Seoul and providing new opportunity for recruitment of local talent into this state-of-the-art facility,” said Markham.
